Osteochondroma (tracheobronchial choristoma) of the esophagus is a rare tumor. Survey of the literature revealed only one reported case in which an esophageal osteochondroma was known to have been removed during the patient's life. The case reported herein is another one of an esophageal osteochondroma that was successfully removed surgically. The possible explanations in pathogenesis of this unusual tumor are discussed and a brief review of the other benign esophageal tumors is given.
