Primary lung cancer is an uncommon disease in a nonsmoking population. The purpose of the present investigation has been to study the history of lung cancer patients who were nonsmokers to determine possible exogenous or endogenous factors that might be of etiological significance. The authors reviewed routine histologic diagnosis made by staff pathologists in an effort to impose uniform diagnostic criteria.
