The authors believe they can recognize and identify the various malignant lymphomas by their lymphangiographic patterns. The characteristic patterns for giant follicular lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, lymphosarcoma and reticulum cell sarcoma are described and shown. Lymphangiography is applied clinically to the lymphomas for (1) staging, (2) detecting presence and extent of retroperitoneal disease, (3) evaluating the effectiveness of therapeutic agents and (4) disclosing recurrences. These applications are discussed and illustrative cases presented. The reasons for the limitations of cavography and pyelography are presented. The complications of lymphangiography are listed; no fatalities have occurred.
