In order to investigate the influence of the complex mixing effects of gaseous species and solids inside the combustion chamber on the emission behavior of a large‐scale CFB furnace, a CFB combustion model is developed. Simulations show that horizontal mixing is insufficient and uneven concentration distributions and concentration peaks of O 2 , CO and NO occur as a consequence of the local introduction of reactants. This indicates that the geometrical arrangement of the fuel feed, the solids return and the secondary air injection nozzles has a strong influence on the overall emissions of CFB combustors.
