The separation or reduction of fine particle fractions is important for a wide range of technological processes. A new classification technique is introduced which – as against conventional practice – can be applied with high‐grade efficiency to very small particles and at high solid concentrations. The apparatus used is simple and all components needed are commercially available. As experiments show, this new technique is not only suitable for the classification of particles according to particle size but also according to particle form.
