High heat fluxes can be achieved using subcooled flow boiling, where bulk temperature of the fluid is below the saturation temperature, thus, making it useful in intensive cooling processes. The authors present and discuss measurements investigating a wide range of heat transfer mechanisms from single phase convection to inverted annular flow film boiling.
