Liquid‐liquid extraction is a very powerful separation technique; however, the methods available to determine the number of stages necessary requires knowledge of the axial mixing and mass transfer parameters. The authors show that the dynamic process for evaluating the mass transfer and axial mixing parameters is successful in a pulsed sieve plate column of 150 mm (see figure).
