Macroporous materials with highly uniform pores in the range 50 nm to 20 μm and of any desired porosity up to 90% can be produced using the method introduced here—emulsion templating. The Figure shows an extremely porous poly(acrylamide) gel, one of the many types of materials that can be synthesized using this versatile technique.
