In the production of ethylene oxide, the deactivation of the silver catalysts is compensated by increasing reactor temperature. However, with increasing temperature the enrichment of chlorine also increases. In this work, the influence of nitroethane (NE) and mixtures of 1,2‐dichloroethane and NE on the activity and selectivity of the catalyst are presented.
