Elemental mercury, Hg°;, is not removed in conventional scrubber systems. If the Hg emission limit is to be met, expensive processes must be run. To avoid the high disposal cost of the entrained‐bed product a process should be designed which reliably observes the emission limit and, at the same time, confines the problem and clearly reduces waste arisings from offgas purification.
