Silicon carbide fibers have been studied for a number of years. Their manufacture includes some difficulties, which are caused, in the case of silicon carbide, by the fact that the fiber form is not easy to achieve. With regard to the productivity and the potential of the material properties, the polymerization route is obviously the best route to produce SiC fibers.
