Generalized Lorenz‐Mie theory (GLMT) for elliptical cylinders is concisely described. Rather than insisting on technicalities which will appear elsewhere, this paper provides a guide allowing one to gain a bird view over the structure of the theory. As a by‐product, the structure of the GLMT for circular cylinders is revisited.
