A simple and rapid method for the determination of tocopherols in vegetable oils by chronopotentiometry is described. The tocopherols were oxidized by constant current (4–10 μA) at a glassy carbon planar disk electrode. The concentration of tocopherols was determined by standard solutions prepared in a matrix of animal fat. Under the described experimental conditions for α−, γ (β +γ)−, and δ‐tocopherol a detection limit of about 15 mg/dm 3 was obtained. All samples were analyzed by a computerized electrochemical analyzer of our own construction.
