Structural Stabilization of New Compounds: MoS 2 and WS 2 Micro‐ and Nanotubes Alloyed with Gold and Silver

Inorganic nano‐ and microtubes intercalated with silver and gold are reported here for the first time. These alloyed phases of MoS 2 and WS 2 are stabilized by the tubular structure—remaining unknown in the bulk material. Analysis with TEM shows that the Au intercalated tubes (the Figure shows the termination of an Au–WS 2 tube) show a concentric growth a with conical tip.
