Abstract Photopatterning of adsorbed monolayers has been achieved using a photopolymerizable cationic adsorbate (see Figure) that undergoes stepwise UV‐induced polymerization. The technique uses a conventional light source, and development of the photolithographic pattern involves only aqueous solutions, which makes it an environmentally friendly process.
