Wetting phenomena on structured surfaces are reviewed. The interplay between the two‐dimensional pattern of surface domains and the three‐dimensional morphology of the wetting fluid is theoretically discussed. The results presented illustrate the novel morphological aspects in the wetting behavior. It is shown that these systems have potential both as models for fundamental research and as a templates for technologically relevant microscale structures with unique geometric and topological properties.
