New molecular conductors often involve tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivatives. These authors have focused on derivatives containing the pentathio group to obtain a novel intermolecular network by S–S contacts of these groups. Here is reported the synthesis, single‐crystal structure, and electrochemical properties of the new donor 4,5‐ethylenedithio‐4,5‐pentathio‐TTF and its ClO 4 – salt. The temperature dependence of the electrochemical resistivity of a single crystal of the salt is semiconducting, while its electrical conductivity at room temperature is also comparatively high.
