Explosive reactive armour (ERA) is an intelligent armour. It reduces the effects of the weapon systems with larger penetration capabilities like shaped charge jets much more compared to long rod penetrators or at least EFPs. But the residual penetration of the shaped charges in RHA can be still remarkable. Therefore, ERA has to be designed against the most threatening weapon system.
