The stability of an inviscid, incompressible flow which is the combination of a modulated standing wave coupled to rigid body rotation is considered. This analysis can be viewed as a secondary perturbation of the rotating flow itself. We show that these flows are unstable with respect to 3D high frequency perturbations and examine some asymptotic regimes of this perturbation analysis.
