Abstract The internal energy and specific heat of diluted mixed spin‐1/2 and spin‐1 Ising system with crystal‐field interaction are investigated within the framework of effective‐field theory with correlation. Both the properties in the ground state and at finite temperature are given for the honeycomb ( z = 3) and square lattice ( z = 4) systems.
