The hopping mobility of particles on discrete linear chains is considered, when an arbitrary bias acts on the particles. An exact expression for the stationary current is given in terms of the site energies and the transition rates between the sites, and verified by numerical simulations. The mobility exhibits rectification effects in the regime of nonlinear response, if the site energies and barriers correspond to nonsymmetric potentials. Possible extensions to two‐ and three‐dimensional systems are dicussed.
