Layer‐by‐layer assembled multilayer films were obtained on the surface of quartz slides and gold electrodes by alternating deposition of partially quaternized poly(4‐vinylpyridine) complexed with [Os(bpy) 2 Cl] +/2+ (PVP‐Os) with two kinds of polyanions, poly(sodium 4‐styrenesulfonate) (PSS) and poly[aniline‐ co ‐ N ‐(3‐sulfopropyl)aniline] (PAPSAH). The modified electrodes show electrocatalytic response for the reduction of nitrite. The different electrochemical behavior of these two types of electrodes caused by different polyanions is compared. The potential application as amperometric sensors for nitrite is anticipated.
