s ‐Triazone‐containing polysulfides having high molecular weights were readily synthesized by the phase‐transfer catalysed polycondensation of 6‐diethylamino or dibutylamino‐1,3,5‐triazine‐2,4‐dithiols with 1,10‐dibromodecane in the presence of cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide in a nitrobenzene‐aqueous alkaline solution system. The polysulfides are soluble in dichloromethane, chloroform and tetrahydrfuran, and afforded colorless, opaque, ductile and elastomeric films, which exhibit low glass transition temperatures between –20 and –10°C and melting temperatures around 50–70°C.
