An “unfilled” di(alkali metal) phosphanediide [Na 2 PR*] 6 ⋅2 THF (R*=Si t Bu 3 ; see structure) with a Na:P ratio of 2:1 has been synthesized for the first time. Spherical frameworks are also adopted by the phosphanediides [Li 2 PR*] 4 ⋅4 LiO t Bu and [Cu 2 PR*] 6 .
