The cover picture shows the idealized [Mn] core of a novel cyanide bridged molecular cluster. Six Mo V ions (red spheres) form an octahedron around the central Mn II ion (green sphere in the center). The faces of this octahedron are capped by eight additional Mn II ions (green spheres) and the total geometry is close to a rhombododecahedron. This cluster contains 15 paramagnetic ions and as a consequence has an extraordinarily high number of unpaired electrons, namely 51. The ferromagnetic interaction between the metal ions within a cluster leads to an S =51/2 ground state. Due to additional ferromagnetic intercluster coupling, a complex magnetic behavior is observed below 44 K. More details are given by S. Decurtins et al. on p. 1605ff.
