A non‐ C 3v tripod ligand with mixed arms , namely, 2‐quinolyl‐2,2′‐[3,3′‐dimethyl‐4,4′‐diethyl‐5,5′‐bis(ethoxycarbonyl)]dipyrrolylmethane (LH 2 ), supports a triangular mixed‐valent [Cu 3 ] 4+ cluster with Cu−Cu distances of about 2.6 Å (see picture). The Cu II center of the complex [Cu 3 L 2 ] exchanges rapidly between two sites at room temperature, giving rise to a seven‐line ESR spectrum.
