When both covalent and hydrogen bonds are involved in the preorganization of a unimolecular cavity, high kinetic stability of the host – guest complexes results. Two reversibly folded cavitands were covalently attached to afford a rigid cylindrical host with dimension of about 10×23 Å (shown schematically).
