The multitalented therapeutic agent that is used to relieve a variety of ailments, acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin ® ) is facing new competition. The goal is to use tailor‐made inhibitors of cyclooxygenase‐2 to selectively reduce pain while minimizing side effects. Do these new drugs represent a new generation of nonsteroidal pain relievers?
