Migration from the metal to the γ ‐carbon atom of the C 3 chain is observed for the azido ligand in the reaction of the square‐planar complexes 1 with CO. For R = R′ = aryl spontaneous loss of N 2 generates the σ‐bonded compounds 2 , which afford the corresponding acrylonitrile derivatives R′RC=CHCN on treatment with HX.
