A novel type of phosphazide chelation , which involves formal [1+3] cycloadditions, gave a variety of new stable polycyclic zwitterionic complexes. These complexes decomposed with loss of nitrogen to afford another group of new polycyclic zwitterionic species (see equation). X‐ray crystallography studies of two of these unusual systems confirmed the proposed structures.
