Group 4 metal cations play an important role in organometallic chemistry and in catalysis. Treatment of the (C 6 F 5 ) 2 BF⋅OEt 2 complex with N ‐pyrrolyl lithium yields the strong organometallic Lewis acid ( N ‐pyrrolyl)B(C 6 F 5 ) 2 ( 1 ), which abstracts alkyl anions from a variety of Group 4 metallocene‐alkyl complexes to yield metallocene cation systems.
