Ternary five‐vertex arachno‐type cobalt‐tin‐chalcogene clusters are accessible by means of insertion of the chalcogen elements S and Se into the unbridged Co−Sn bond of the stannanediyl cobalt complexes [( η 5 ‐Cp R )Co−Sn{CH(SiMe 3 ) 2 } 2 ] ( 1 ‐ 3 ). They display a rich spectroelectrochemistry. CV and EPR measurements reveal that the relevant HOMO orbitals are strongly transition metal centered.
