Nitrile‐functionalised pendant‐arm macrocycles have been used as supporting ligands for the first binuclear complex containing a discrete two‐electron (σ) μ 2 ‐ κ C: κ C symmetrically bridged CN − ligand (see example depicted; N= hatched circle, COpen circle, S=shaded circle). A different coordination mode of the bridging CN − ligand is observed on changing the length of the aliphatic chain in the functionalised pendant arms of the macrocycle.
