Encapsulation of cobalt salophen catalysts such as 1 into the supercage of zeolite Y ( 1‐ZeY ) (shown schematically) provides a catalyst that when used in the Pd‐catalyzed aerobic oxidation of 1,3‐cyclohexadiene gave 1,4‐diacetoxy‐2‐cyclohexene in high yield at room temperature in three hours. 1‐ZeY can be isolated and reused several times with still good conversion in the third run.
