A ten‐year campaign was successfully completed by the first total synthesis of brevetoxin A ( 1 ). A Horner–Wittig type coupling of suitably functionalized BCDE and GHIJ ring systems proved to be the last key step in the total synthesis of this architecturally beautiful molecule.
