A novel combination of enzymatic and nonenzymatic steps in a domino process has been successfully demonstrated. A biocatalyzed hyroxylation and oxidation of phenols (tyrosinase, CHCl 3 , O 2 ) was linked to a Diels–Alder reaction and a subsequent allylation of the intermediary formed bicyclic diketones.
