The systematic modification of the central heterocycle of the parent end‐capped quinquethiophene EC5T 1 by the introduction of electronegative heteroatoms led to the novel oligoheterocycles 2 – 6 . The optical and electrochemical properties can be directly correlated with the underlying molecular structure. The observed enhancement of the fluorescence quantum yield and the comparison of the energetic and geometric parameters with calculations are of special interest with respect to electrooptical applications.
