Lithium and Sodium Alkoxy‐ and Aryloxyhydridoaluminates in Solution and in the Solid State

Ligand redistribution in solution [Eq. (1)] is exhibited by LiAlH 2 (O‐(−)‐Ment) 2 (O‐(−)‐Ment = (−)‐mentholate; structure of the THF adduct is depicted) and by several of the other organyloxyhydridoaluminates MAlH 4− n (OR) n (M = Li, Na, R = alkyl, aryl) described here. The structures of the aluminates were investigated by 27 Al NMR spectroscopy and X‐ray structure analysis.
