Unusual crystal morphologies (picture) are exhibited by fluoroapatite and hydroxyapatite when they are precipitated inside a porous polyglycolide matrix. Crystals are formed first inside the pores and later push the polymer matrix aside to form well‐defined aggregates. Such composites of a bioresorbable polymer and hydroxyapatite are promising biomaterials, for example for bone replacement.
