A very rare structural motif is the 1 ∞ [(GeS 3 ) 2− ] “einer single chain” in the novel thiogermanate PdGeS 3 . Two opposite chains are connected by palladium atoms, leading to unique 1 ∞ [(PdGeS 3 ) 2 ] double strands. A one‐dimensional structure emerges because the only interactions between the strands are van der Waals forces. An unusual fibrous orange material is the consequence of this highly anisotropic bonding.
