The de novo design of peptides with predictable well‐defined secondary structures has a great potential for interesting and useful contributions to the understanding of protein folding. Moreover, the incorporation of metal‐binding sites into specially designed peptide sequences represents a further tool for controlling the peptide conformation by metal ion complexation (see below).
