Unusual skeletal substitution reactions (such as the example shown right) are characteristic of the reactivity of cyclic borataphosphazenes towards halide abstraction agents with counterions such as [BF 4 ] − , [AsF 6 ] − , and [SbF 6 ] − . In other cases ([AlCl 4 ] − and [GaCl 4 ] − ) stable borazine–phosphazene hybrid rings are formed.
