A variety of fascinating C 2 , C 3 , C 4 , and C 6 Re/Os 3 complexes can be obtained, starting from thermal reactions of alkynyl complexes [( η 5 ‐C 5 Me 5 )Re(NO)(PPh 3 ){(C≡C) n H}] and [Os 3 (CO) 10 (NCCH 3 ) 2 ], or the C 3 OMe complex [( η 5 ‐C 5 Me 5 )Re(NO)(PPh 3 )(C≡CC(OMe)=Os 3 (CO) 11 ] alone. Two examples of such complexes are shown; the one on the right features a carbon with a geometry even more distorted than “planar tetracoordinate”.
