An unprecedented family of ladder compounds , each with a unique architecture and rung size, is completed by the crystal structures of a sodium and a mixed lithium–sodium derivative of tert ‐butylamine. This further illustrates that primary amines make excellent precursors for constructing novel alkali metal amide ladder structures.
