Synthesis and Crystal Structure of K 2 Mn 3 S 4 Single crystals of K 2 Mn 3 S 4 have been prepared by a fusion reaction of potassium carbonate with manganese in a stream of hydrogen sulfide at 900 °C. K 2 Mn 3 S 4 crystallizes in a new monoclinic layered structure type ( P 2/ c , a = 7.244(2) Å, b = 5.822(1) Å, c = 11.018(5) Å, β = 112.33(3)°, Z = 2) which can be described as a stacking variant of the orthorhombic Cs 2 Mn 3 S 4 structure type. Measurements of the magnetic susceptibilities show antiferro‐magnetic interactions.
