The Polyhedral Clusters [{M 6 Z}Br 36 ] in the Bromides Ba 8 [{M 6 Z}Br 32 ] and Ba 9 [{M 6 Z}Br 34 ] The bromides Ba 8 [{M 6 Z}Br 32 ] (M = Ce–Nd) and Ba 9 [{M 6 Z}Br 34 ] (M = La–Sm) (for Ba 9 [{Pr 6 Z}Br 34 ] as single crystals) have been obtained from, respectively, 1 : 1 and 2 : 1 mixtures of BaBr 2 /MBr 3 et elevated temperatures in Pyrex ampoules. As a common feature they contain the so‐called polyhedral cluster [{M 6 Z}Br 36 ], six square antiprisms connected via common vertices.
