Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Ba 2 ScCl 7 , a Barium Chloride Hexachloroscandate(III), Ba 2 Cl[ScCl 6 ] Colourless single crystals of Ba 2 ScCl 7 are obtained from a 1 : 1 molar mixture of BaCl 2 and ScCl 3 . It crystallizes with the non‐centrosymmetric monoclinic space group P2 1 with a = 688,88(7), b = 1349,4(1), c = 1207,4(1), β = 94,93(1)° in a new structure that contains isolated [ScCl 6 ] octahedra and one ‘‘lonesome”” chloride ligand according to Ba 2 Cl[ScCl 6 ].
