In this Research Review, several recent clinical trials in panic disorder and social phobia are reviewed. First, two social phobia studies which used the monoamine oxidase type A inhibitors brofaromine and moclobemide are considered. Then, three panic disorder studies which used clonazepam, clomipramine or paroxetine, and citalopram are examined. These studies serve to strengthen the empirical research base regarding which treatments are useful in these disorders. Depression and Anxiety 7:134–138, 1998. © 1998 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.
