Abstract The study uses primary data collected from a survey conducted in Texas to analyze consumer attitude toward Recombinant Porcine Somatotropin (pST). The article measures consumer concern and awareness about pST and relates them to consumers' willingness to buy pork products produced with pST. Results suggest that a low level of awareness about somatotropin is responsible for higher levels of consumer concerns and unwillingness to accept products produced with pST. The study identifies impacts of various sociodemographic variables on consumer attitude toward pST. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
