This article seeks to breathe fresh life into the discussion of how internal organizational strategies are managed—using the perhaps unlikely help of finance. It demonstrates that finance can play a most central role in formulating and implementing strategy. It focuses particularly on finance's role in helping shape strategies for organizational change. That role is most effectively executed via the notion of valuing business change (VBC). The arguments in the article are demonstrated in a case study of strategic change at Cellnet.
